  Finally got to exit #1!

I still am unable to get to exit number 1... Pesky bots! I'm wondering though, Dave, if uploading a modification attempting to force escaping through the upper exit using minimalistic and 'just barely impossible' fixes to block the other doors (and removing the deadly aspect of the laser maze) would spoil the version you were intending to upload. If not, then once I can *actually* get to door 1 maybe I'll upload such a modification and call it 'The Accidental Puzzle' or something like that.

  Correction: Exit 1 - 156.

Found it, changed one of the bots: exit 1 - 164. Much easier solution than my earlier one.

Had another look at exit 3, now down to 82. As for exit 1 ... hmmm.

Dave, I solved 1 in 165 moves. Still havent figured out 3 or 4.

All exits done 1 and 3 are the best.
I'd allready done the others and had not even seen these two.
Boosted up the style points 7 levels in 1 what a bonus.
Great spot Dave look foward to your mod if you make it.

I already got the point, N7, I've been experimenting already. I want to keep the original level intact as much as possible, if this is feasible is, at this stage, indeterminate. If it proves otherwise, I have the funamental idea for a funny level.

Go to the Escape FB page, I'm the last person to leave a comment, find me and PM me. Then I'll explain.

Just make sure that, if your version is supposed to replace this one in being a candidate for veryfunny then make sure to mention the level's comments in the title ;)

If this is going to get into Very Funny it needs a completely new twist not a mod. I have an idea... it might just work, give me a couple of days :)

So, thanks to N7, the new par score is 678. It should come down a bit yet. I'm still on 679...

That is exit 3, so I've wasted a move on that one somewhere. Obviously, 2,5,6,7 are easy to solve. Exit 1 is the fun one... I'll think about a mod, it wouldn't be a bad 'intermediate' level, should be worth a 5, but blocking the others without making it obvious or leaving a cook won't be easy. I know 200 is not optimal, I just haven't bettered it yet.

Crossword order is standard 'western' reading order: prioritised by row number first, then column number, starting top left.

Also, although i'm not familiar with 'standard crossword numbering', the exit sharing a space with a transponder can be reached in 94 moves.

I wonder if this level will actually be able to get into veryfunny (as that's pretty much the only way this level would be played by most new players in the future)

Oh yes, it is 7 alright. There's that one buried within the dalek cave in the lazer maze, opposite of the more obvious exit.

Note that there are some VERY SIGNIFICANT SPOILERS in this comment. Although admittedly the level is rather easy if you go hrough the heart collection or bot maze.

Dave, I originally intended to have examples of 'bad' levels with no solutions and one just barely ok level that was solvable, but since I thought that might confuse players, so I changed it to only poor-style levels. I did not get rid of the anti-solution mechanisms, however. If any of the solutions are significantly more difficult, feel free to adapt them (obviously removing low-style bits in all cases where such is possible.) The top left door with the two bots and the lazer maze ones were supposed to be impossible.

Also, I only counted five exits, unless you include the sleeping door in the upper left room, which now that I think about it would be better as a stop sign or something.

That's an aggregate of 679 moves for the 7 exits. Any further bids?

18514 Level comments: escape.spacebar.org/f/a/escape/level/3724 Dave (2400) Sun 10 Nov 2013 20:09 SPOILER
I understand this probably defeats the object of the level but...

We could have a little speedrun contest with this one. Numbering the exits in standard 'crossword' order: I currently have 1-200, 2-81, 3-95, 4-71, 5-102, 6-86, and 7-44.

I must confess that I didn't immediately spot that you had made all the exits available, I thought some of them were purely for misdirection...

Gil, that's partly the point. The level wasn't intended to be hard or stylish, but to make a point.

The title is also purposeful so players will actually see these comments and be able to respond to feedback. Overall this level is supposed to help out to prevent more annoying levels.

'Level comments: escape.spacebar.org/f/a/escape/level/3724' uploaded by N7DOT:
This is supposed to help new players avoid level types that are not usually appreciated by most veterans here or other players that have been active for more than a year. Here is a list of what the types shown are (please do not use these as inspiration for new levels)

Top left: Mostly blank or unimportant with obvious solution: Usually dissapears from triage.

Top Right: Tedious/Guessing/Suprise Deaths: Please don't make these. Period.

Middle Right: Tedious/Guessing/Teleport Scramble: These are usually boring, and often overlap with Suprise Deaths too.

Bottom Left: Bot Rampage: These get a bad reputation, especially if you add Daleks and/or if there is no obvious strategic placement.

Bottom Center: Tedious/Heart Collection: These are usually very boring most of the time. Don't use hearts to fill blank space, please.

Bottom Right: Tedious/Broken Fill and Tedious/Maze: Pure mazes are usually not very interesting; if you like mazes there are plenty of sites that will make you happy, I'm sure. Filling space with broken grey blocks is just as boring as filling with hearts, unless the fill actually adds some challenge other than time (which isn't a problem). In this example I made it so that the beginning part has to be redone, which has *actually* been used in levels and is NOT fun!

We enjoy getting new players, but these types of levels usually dissapoint us and lead to the new player feeling like they don't belong.

Feel free to move this into /veryfunny ; it would probably fit well there, as most new players see that and play it before most of the rest of Triage.
